Update: ID on man found at South Fork Rivanna Reservoir

Update: Tuesday, 8:02 p.m. The man found in the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir has been identified as Mark Kenneth Robbins, 58, of Charlottesville.

Robbins had been missing since Nov. 17.

A cause of death determination will be made by the Medical Examiners Office in Richmond.

 

First report: Tuesday, 5:21 p.m. Albemarle County Police Officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded Tuesday afternoon to a report of an unusual object in the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir in the vicinity of Lochridge Lane.

Once on scene, it was confirmed to be a body in the reservoir.

The Underwater Recovery Team recovered the body at approximately 5:20 pm and it is currently en route to the Medical Examiners Office in Richmond for identification and determination of cause of death.

This is an active investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
