The Barack Obama campaign this morning released a two-minute advertisement in which Sen. Obama speaks directly to the American people on his view on the state of the U.S. economy.

The ad takes on the topic of the recent spate of gloom-and-doom news from Wall Street, job losses that have put more than 600,000 Americans out of work since the start of the year, high gas prices and how the news media has been focused on the nonsense of the election cycle.

“This is no ordinary time, and it shouldn’t be an ordinary election. But much of this campaign has been consumed by petty attacks and distractions that have nothing to do with you or how we get America back on track,” Obama says in the spot.

You can watch the ad here.
