Days Inn shooting suspect charged

days inn shootingCharlottesville Police have charged 23-year-old Xavier Grant Murphy with second-degree murder of 21-year-old Tatiana Wells, the shooting victim at the Days Inn Hotel on Friday evening. Mr. Murphy is also charged with the Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. Investigation is ongoing.

On Friday evening, June 22, 2018, at 7:54 p.m., Charlottesville Police officers responded to the Days Inn hotel located at 1610 Emmet Street for the report of a gunshot victim.

A female victim with a gunshot wound was located in a hotel room at the Days Inn. She was transported to the UVA hospital where she died from her injuries. Investigators have responded, and a male suspect has been taken into custody. No names are being released at this time, as this is an ongoing investigation.
