Registration open for Charlottesville Parks & Rec summer programs

Charlottesville Parks & RecreationCharlottesville Parks & Rec will be offering comprehensive and fun summer programs beginning on June 18 for all local youth from Pre-K through 10th grades. These programs will focus on extended learning activities along with fun recreational activities, programs and field trips.

Participants will experience traditional camp activities, enrichment clubs, swimming, sports, active play, indoor and outdoor games, arts, crafts, nature and science. Also included is a nutritious breakfast and lunch provided by the USDA Summer Food Service Program. Financial assistance is available through our Scholarship Program. Summer programs include

Camp ExL 2018 (PreK–3rd Grade)
(City Parks & Recreation in partnership with the CLASS program of Charlottesville City Schools)
Times: 9am–4pm (wraparound care 7:30am–6pm)
Locations: Burnley-Moran, Venable, and Jackson-Via Elementary Schools

Pre-Teen Camp (4th–6Th Grade)
Times: 9am–4pm (wraparound care 7:30am–5:30pm)
Locations: Walker Upper Elementary and Carver Recreation Center

Teen X-treme Camp (7th–10th Grade)
Times: 9am–4pm (wraparound care 7:30am–5:30pm)
Location: Key Recreation Center

Extended Camp (PreK–8th Grades)
(Extended 2-week program from July 30–August10)
Times: 7:30–5:30pm
Locations: Herman Key Recreation Center and Carver Recreation Center

Also included in the summer programs is a nutritional breakfast and lunch provided through the USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP). Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service (USDA Nondiscrimination Statement).

Meals will be provided at the sites and times as follows:

  • Carver Recreation Center 8:30 – 9:30 AM 12:00 – 1:00 PM
  • Key Recreation Center 8:30 – 9:30 AM 12:00 – 1:00 PM
  • Walker Upper Elementary 8:30 – 9:30 AM 12:00 – 1:00 PM
  • Jackson-Via Elementary School 8:30 – 9:30 AM 12:00 – 1:00 PM
  • Venable Elementary School 8:30 – 9:30 AM 12:00 – 1:00 PM
  • Burnley-Moran Elementary School 8:30 – 9:30 AM 12:00 – 1:00 PM
