Concert Choir set for variety show

Chris Graham

wayneThe Waynesboro High School Concert Choir will be presenting its fall variety show featuring music from the Broadway musical Wicked this weekend in the Louis Spilman Auditorium.

Showtimes are Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students K-12.

Wicked tells the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West, and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, from the story of “The Wizard of Oz.”

The plot is set mostly before Dorothy’s arrival from Kansas and includes several references to the 1939 film.

The Concert Choir will be performing five selections from the musical. Also featured on this concert will be two selections from Concert Choir’s upcoming joint performance of Carmina Burana with Schola Cantorum.

That performance will be held on Sunday, Nov. 15 at 3 p.m. in the Louis Spilman Auditorium at WHS.
