Overnight bridge work on Interstate 64 at Exit 118 Thursday night

Chris Graham

interstate 64A contractor with the Virginia Department of Transportation will perform bridge-deck patching on the Interstate 64 eastbound bridge over Route 29 (Monacan Trail) in Albemarle County.

The work will occur tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m

Traffic will be reduced to one travel lane while the work is completed. The I-64 on-ramp from Route 29 southbound and the off-ramp to Route 29 northbound will also be closed. Follow posted detour routes.

This work is necessary to repair a previous patch that has loosened and has created a bumpy riding surface in the travel lane.

Message boards are in place to notify the public of the upcoming work.

Updates and other real-time travel information can be found on the 511 Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia. Local updates are also posted toTwitter.com/VaDOTCulp.
