Tanner Roark is going to be a dangerous #2 in the postseason for the Washington Nationals.
The righthander earned his 15th victory of the season with seven scoreless innings as the Nats topped the New York Mets, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon.
Roark (15-8, 2.75 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) allowed three hits, striking out seven and walking four.
Blake Treinen (19 holds, 2.34 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) and Mark Melancon (42 saves, 1.71 ERA, 0.96 WHIP) pitched perfect eighth and ninth innings to close out the win.
Wilson Ramos (.304/.354/.496, 21 HR, 78 RBI) provided the offense with a seventh-inning solo homer.
The Nats (87-59) have a 10-game lead on the Mets (77-69) in the NL East, with a magic number to clinch the division at seven.
New York has a half-game lead on St. Louis for the second NL wild-card spot.
