FERC establishes timeline for Atlantic Coast Pipeline environmental review

Chris Graham

dominion Atlantic Coast PipelineThe Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) today issued a Notice of Schedule for the Atlantic Coast Pipeline, which establishes a timeline for the environmental review of the project.

Dominion Energy in a press release issued today said this is a major step forward for the project, and provides a clear road map for the remainder of the federal environmental review process. Based on the timeline established today, Dominion said it remains on track to receive federal approval to begin construction in late summer 2017.

Public utilities in the region are counting on the Atlantic Coast Pipeline to meet the energy needs of a growing population and new industries, according to the release. This project is also essential to lowering carbon emissions and achieving the goals of the federal Clean Power Plan in Virginia and North Carolina. Reaching this milestone brings us one step closer to meeting these urgent needs and securing the energy future of our region.

The Notice of Schedule is available for download on the FERC website: elibrary.ferc.gov/idmws/file_list.asp?accession_num=20160812-3033.
