Following Hillary Clinton’s speech in Atlantic City Wednesday on Donald Trump’s failed business record, Congressman Don Beyer and State Senator Donald McEachin urged Virginians to support Hillary Clinton so that Trump cannot do to Virginia as president what he did to Atlantic City as a businessman.
“While his workers, investors, and contractors struggled, Trump walked away with millions,” said Congressman Beyer.”And still brags about it. But it’s not just Atlantic City. This is a pattern with Donald Trump. It’s why he’s been involved in more than 3,500 lawsuits over the past 30 years. Forty-two years of my own family business – I can count on one hand the number of lawsuits we have had. Trump says he’s a businessman and claims that this is just what businessmen do. But it’s not. As a businessman myself, I can tell you, don’t believe him. “
“Virginia has been my home, my entire life. It’s where I got my education, started my career, and decided to raise my family. I’m here to say that we will not let Donald Trump get elected and do to Virginia what he did to Atlantic City,” said State Senator McEachin. “As the daughter of a small business owner, Hillary knows that getting paid, and getting paid on time, is essential to making payroll and keeping a business running. When small businesses do not get paid for honest work, it is not just wrong, it is bad for our economy, because small businesses that are getting stiffed cannot thrive, grow, and hire. Hillary Clinton is the real deal and the only choice for hard-working Virginians and Americans.”
This morning, Clinton unveiled her new policies to protect small business against unscrupulous big businesses, which in Virginia, would provide new protections and support to Virginia’s 145,450 small businesses and more than 1.4 million employees. These proposals are part of her plan to fight for the largest investment in good-paying jobs in her first 100 days in office, one of her five major goals for our economy.
