Columbia Gas of Virginia reduces natural gas prices 7.5 percent

Chris Graham

economic-forecast-headerColumbia Gas of Virginia customers continue to benefit from low natural gas commodity prices with a 7.5 percent reduction in total customer bills.  The proposed prices take effect with customer bills being mailed this week.

The new total residential monthly bill is $101.83 when compared to the current total monthly bill of $110.11 and is based on a seasonal usage level of 10 Dekatherms (Dth). A Dth is the measurement used for natural gas usage and is the equivalent of 1000 cubic feet (Mcf).

“The tangible benefits from the ongoing availability of abundant domestic natural gas production is clearly reflected in the lower costs our customers pay for their monthly service,” said Brent Archer, Columbia’s President. “This gas cost adjustment continues the trend of historically low natural gas costs, and that is good news for our residential, commercial and industrial customers.”

When Columbia Gas is able to purchase lower-priced natural gas on the commodity market, it is passed along directly in the form of lower prices to the more than 255,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers Columbia Gas serves across Virginia.
