coats for kidsVirginia Safari Park held the largest turnout for its Coats for Kids charity drive event on Black Friday.

This day marked the 14th annual “Coats for Kids” drive, in which Virginia Safari Park donated its day’s proceeds to purchase new winter coats for children in need in the Rockbridge County area.  This event was a great success this year, resulting in the delivery of 200 coats.

“Thanks to strong community support, we have been able to provide new winter coats for Rockbridge area school children in need year after year” said Eric Mogensen, CEO of Virginia Safari Park. “We would like to thank all of the people for coming out and supporting our event each year, ultimately making this the largest year to date for providing coats.”

This event continues to have a strong cumulative impact on the community and has delivered over 2,200 coats to area school children to date.

Virginia Safari Park is a 180-acre drive-thru adventure, featuring over 1,000 animals from around the world.  It is Rockbridge county’s, as well as one of the Virginia’s, largest tourist attractions. The park is closed for the season and will re-open in mid-March.

Conveniently located just off I-81, exit 180/180B. Call(540) 291-3205, or visit www.virginiasafaripark.com for event updates, seasonal hours, and more.
