The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library has announced the schedule of events for the 2015 Fall Symposium slated to begin Thursday, November 5th and concluding Friday, November 6th.
Beginning Thursday evening, November 5th at 7:00 pm, the symposium opens with former Archivist of the United States, The Honorable Don W. Wilson’s presentation which was delivered recently to the employees of the Federal Reserve Bank in Richmond, Virginia “Woodrow Wilson and the Federal Reserve Act: The History and Importance of the Federal Reserve System.”
The symposium continues Friday morning at 10:00 am as Shenandoah National Park Interpretative Park Ranger, Michael Punches, presents “The Re-Creation Experiment: The History of the National Park Service and Shenandoah National Park.” President Woodrow Wilson created the National Park Service on August 25, 1916 as a separate agency to manage the nation’s National Parks and Monuments. Following this presentation, lunch will be provided at 11:30 am in The Lescure Center of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library with an RSVP to Karen Dodson at [email protected] or call at (540) 885-0897 ext. 113.
The symposium concludes, Friday afternoon at 1:30 pm as Ellen and Edith: Woodrow Wilson’s First Ladies author, Kristie Miller, presents “Take Good Care of My Husband”: The Death of Ellen Wilson and Woodrow’s Courtship of Edith Galt” as she discusses the period of Woodrow Wilson’s life between the death of his first wife Ellen and his courtship of his second wife Edith. A book signing will follow the presentation.
All three seminars are free and open to the public thanks to a generous grant from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund and will take place in the Library and Research Center of the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum located at 235 E. Beverley St., Staunton.
