redskins-helmet1Kirk Cousins threw two interceptions, Washington had a punt blocked into the end zone, and the Redskins fumbled at the goal line. Other than that, things went OK, aside from Eli Manning’s 279 yards and two touchdowns that lifted the New York Giants to a 32-21 win Thursday night.

The Skins (1-2) were never really in it, trailing 12-0 after one quarter and never getting within one score of New York (1-2) the rest of the way.

Cousins threw for 316 yards on 30-of-49 passing, but both of his interceptions set up Giants touchdowns.

Washington put up 393 yards of total offense, but the Redskins dug themselves too deep a hole with two turnovers leading to 14 New York points, the punt block adding two more, and the goal-line fumble, on a fourth-down run to the goal line by Matt Jones (11 carries for 38 yards), took seven Washington points off the board.

Manning for 23-for-32 passing, with touchdown passes to Rueben Randle (7 catches for 116 yards) and Odell Beckham Jr. (7 catches for 79 yards).

Rashad Ross returned a fourth-quarter kickoff 101 yards for a Washington touchdown.

A reader, and longtime critic, whose last email to me, before last week, was to criticize us for “political blather” that “charades as journalism,” because he didn’t like a report on a local political candidate, took a different tone on our reporting on the situation facing Waynesboro Public Schools.
