virginia-organizing-new2On Wednesday, Virginia Organizing will welcome supporters to an Open House to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding date of the organization. The Open House will take place at the Charlottesville office (703 Concord Avenue) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. and include a tour, refreshments, a presentation about the recently installed solar panels, and a discussion about our current work.

“Virginia Organizing is excited to welcome guests to our office and show some of the things we have accomplished as a statewide grassroots organization in the last 20 years,” said Virginia Organizing Chairperson Sandra A. Cook. “Guests will also get an opportunity to see our new solar panels that are saving us money and helping reduce our carbon footprint.”

Virginia Organizing was officially founded on August 19, 1995. The first meeting was held at the Northside Library.

In the past 20 years, the organization has grown to include members in every Congressional district in Virginia and had many accomplishments. Virginia Organizing’s history will be published in Building Power, Changing Lives: The Story of Virginia Organizing (Social Policy Press) in October 2015.
