charniele herringToday, the House Democratic Caucus elected Del. Charniele Herring (D-46) to serve as the new Caucus Chair, replacing outgoing Chair Del. Scott Surovell (D-44), who is running for State Senate.

Del. Herring was elected to the House of Delegates in 2009, and served as the Chair of the Democratic Party of Virginia in 2013.

“I am honored and humbled to have been chosen by my colleagues to serve as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus,” said Del. Herring. “Since I was elected over six years ago, I have worked tirelessly with a commitment to fight for working families, and to deliver progress for the Commonwealth. I look forward to leading our Caucus in the coming years as we work to deliver a new Virginia economy that creates opportunities for all Virginians.”

“I congratulate Charniele on being elected to serve as our Caucus Chair. While we will certainly miss Scott Surovell’s energy here in the House of Delegates, we are gaining an exceptionally dedicated public servant as the newest head of our Caucus,” said Democratic Leader David Toscano (D-57). “I am truly excited to continue working with Charniele in her new role.”
