Wake rallies past UVa., gets first ACC win

Wake Forest coach Jeff Bzdelik got his first ACC victory as his Demon Deacons rallied from a 10-point second-half deficit to knock off Virginia 76-71 on Saturday.

Virginia (11-10, 2-5 ACC) led 48-38 midway through the second half. A 20-9 Wake Forest run gave the Deacs their first lead of the second half at 58-57.

Wake (8-13, 1-5 ACC) sealed it down the stretch at the foul line. The Deacons for the game made 19 of their 21 free-throw attempts, while UVa. was just 7-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Junior Assane Sene had a career day for the Cavs, scoring a career-high 15 points and pulling down 13 rebounds to record his first career double-double. But Sene was also just 3-of-8 from the foul line.

Joe Harris had 14 points for UVa. among five ‘Hoos in double figures in scoring.

C.J. Harris led five Wake players in double figures with 15 points.
