Shenandoah Valley Athletic Club to hold first meeting of 2010 on Wednesday

The Shenandoah Valley Athletic club will have its initial meeting of 2010 at the Harrisonburg Ramada Inn on Wednesday. The meeting will feature former EMU baseball great and current Pittsburgh pro Erik Kratz as its guest speaker.

The evening will begin with a social at 6 p.m., dinner at 6:45 p.m., with the program to follow.

Kratz holds numerous baseball records at EMU, where he started every game during his four-year collegiate career. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays and was in their organization for seven seasons, reaching their Triple A club, the Syracuse Chiefs.

He is now with the Pittsburgh organization’s Triple A Indianapolis Indians. He was selected to play in the International League All-Star Game and was awarded the game’s Top Star Award.

The SVAC brings people together from throughout the Shenandoah Valley who share a common interest in sports. Dinner meetings are held each month with the date varying depending on the availability of the guest speaker for the month.
