On Aug. 19, Shenandoah National Park Natural Resources staff confirmed the presence of a single emerald ash borer (EAB) beetle in the park. The adult beetle was caught in an EAB surveillance trap in the Dickey Ridge Picnic Grounds, in the park’s northern section.

An effort to rebuild the Wayne Theatre that began in 1999 will take a huge step forward with construction slated to begin in September. Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today that Perdue Agribusiness, which owns and operates a major deep-water export terminal for grains and oilseeds in Chesapeake, has reached a new agreement with China’s Jiusan Oil and Grain Industries Group (Jiusan) to supply up to 8 million bushels of soybeans in a series of bulk shipments for the 2013-14 crop.
