Webb push would boost tourism

The U.S. Senate on Wednesday passed a measure with strong bipartisan support cosponsored by Senator Jim Webb (D-Va.) designed to increase international travel to the United States, including Virginia’s numerous natural and historical sites. The initiative is estimated to produce $4 billion in economic benefits to local economies at no cost to the American taxpayer.

Grants for programs aiding the homeless

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine today announced more than $11 million in grants through the Homelessness and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP), authorized through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The HPRP program is designed to provide assistance and support to prevent homelessness or to quickly re-house and stabilize those who are currently homelessness.
