Monthly appointments with pharmacists improve medication adherence

Patients are more likely to take chronic medications when they meet monthly with pharmacists to coordinate medication schedules and treatments, according to a Virginia Commonwealth University study. The study, published in the November/December issue of The Journal of the American Pharmacists Association (JAPhA®), described how patient adherence and persistence with chronic medications can be improved.

The Alpha Vision Films documentary film “Oyster Preservation on the Great Wicomico” will be featured on WVPT’s “Virginia Farming” this weekend and will also air next week on RFD-TV. The documentary is a sojourn to “river country” in Virginia’s Northern Neck to meet waterman and marine research specialist Malcolm Luebkert.

Speed limit to increase on stretch of I-64 in Albemarle County

The speed limit on a 12-mile section of Interstate 64 in western Albemarle County will increase from 65 to 70 miles per hour on Thursday, Dec. 19. The new speed zone will run from just east of the Greenwood Station Road overpass (Route 690) at milepost 106.1 to just west of the Route 29 interchange at milepost 117.7.
