Virginia Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe announced today his nominations of Nancy Rodrigues as Secretary of Administration and Karen Jackson as Secretary of Technology. “Nancy and Karen, like my other Cabinet appointments, are leaders who will put partisan battles aside to do what is best for Virginia’s businesses and economy,” said McAuliffe.

Senate confirms Patricia Millett for appeals court

The post-judicial filibusters era is off to a rousing start with the Senate confirmation Tuesday of Patricia Millett, of Alexandria to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.The Senate voted 56-38 to confirm Millett, who was blocked by a Republican filibuster on Oct. 31 in a move that prompted Senate Democrats to push for a rules change.

Schools could benefit from change to Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit

More than 1,200 of Virginia’s school buildings and facilities are 40 years or older according to a new study ordered by Gov. Bob McDonnell and concluded at the beginning of this month. The governor ordered the report in August in to demonstrate how a change to the Federal Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit could benefit the Commonwealth.
