New VCU report shows death rates are rising in Virginia’s white population

Societal issues are driving an increase in death rates among Virginia’s white population, according to a new report from the  VCU Center on Society and Health. Stress-related conditions—including unintentional drug overdoses, suicides, alcoholic liver disease and alcohol poisonings—are killing white Virginians ages 25-54 at increasing rates.

Virginia women’s basketball coach Joanne Boyle announces retirement

Virginia head women’s basketball coach Joanne Boyle announced today (March 20) she is retiring from coaching due to a family matter. Boyle has led the Virginia program for the past seven seasons, compiling a 129-98 record. During 16 seasons as a head coach at Richmond, California and UVA, she compiled a career record of 333-191.

Virginia distilleries to exhibit at Whisky Live in London

Six Virginia distilleries will exhibit at the Whisky Live trade show in London March 23 – 24 at The Honourable Artillery Company. The six distilleries – Belmont Farm Distillery,Catoctin Creek Distilling, Copper Fox Distillery, Franklin County Distilleries, KO Distilling and Reservoir Distillery – will offer samples of their products in the “Virginia is for Spirits Lovers” themed booth.
