The fifth-ranked Virginia baseball was swept by Virginia Tech in a doubleheader Saturday at English Field in Blacksburg, falling 5-3 in the opener and 11-6 in the nightcap. UVa (38-8, 17-7 ACC) lost both games in an ACC doubleheader for the first time since April 6, 2008, at Florida State, and the Cavaliers lost just their second conference series of the season as the Hokies (27-18, 11-13) took two of three games.

JMU rallied for three runs in the seventh to send a seven-inning game to extras and won 5-3 with two runs in the 12th in game one before then being four-hit by three pitchers in a 5-2 George Washington win in game two in a non-conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Barcroft Park.

The No. 5 Virginia baseball team pounded out a season-high 17 hits in a 15-6 thumping of Virginia Tech Friday night in ACC play at English Field. The Cavaliers (38-6, 17-5 ACC) earned their seventh straight victory while winning an ACC series opener for the seventh time in eight tries this year.

The No. 5 Virginia baseball team used three big innings to score a season-high 16 runs in a 16-8 triumph over James Madison Wednesday night at Davenport Field. Virginia (37-6) scored five times in the first and eighth innings and four in the fourth as it posted its sixth straight victory.

James Madison Director of Athletics Jeff Bourne announced today that head coach Matt Brady has signed a new contract as leader of the men’s basketball program. The deal extends Brady’s commitment to JMU through the 2016-17 season.
