Virginia receives $1.4 million to test more than 2,000 untested sexual assault evidence kits

Attorney General Mark Herring and Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran announced today that the Commonwealth of Virginia has received a $1.4 million grant to conduct DNA testing and analyze more than 2,000 untested Physical Evidence Recovery Kits (PERKs) associated with sexual assaults in Virginia.

Attorney General Mark Herring announced Thursday that he has fulfilled his commitment of earning certification for the Office of Attorney General by the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) program, an initiative to encourage Virginia employers to implement nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring, and retaining highly-skilled and dependable veterans.
