McAuliffe announces proposal to support Virginia’s veterans, military families

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe announced his proposal to support Virginia’s veterans and military families on Monday. His plan focuses on four key areas that as governor McAuliffe will strengthen in order to address the needs and challenges facing Virginia’s veteran population and their families: employment, higher education, healthcare, and military family support.

Augusta Health recently honored its 2013 Teen Volunteers. The Teen Volunteers are high school students with serious interests in careers in healthcare. They spend 4-5 weeks at Augusta Health during the summer—they work mornings in a specific department that is an area of interest. They worked on patient floors, in outpatient surgery, at the Child Care Center, in Medical Imaging, in Wound Care, in the Cardiology practice and in the Pharmacy.

Report shows benefits of the Affordable Care Act for Virginia

Today, the Obama administration issued a new report highlighting the benefits of the Affordable Care Act for the people of Virginia. Thanks to the healthcare law, the 88 percent of Virginians who have insurance have more choices and stronger coverage than ever before. And for the 12 percent of Virginians who don’t have insurance, or Virginia families and small businesses who buy their coverage but aren’t happy with it, a new day is just around the corner.
