Waynesboro YMCA, Augusta Health, American Cancer Society team up on cancer study

What if you could prevent even one family from hearing the words “you have cancer”? Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS3), a national study by the American Cancer Society to better understand the lifestyle, environmental and genetic factors that cause or prevent cancer—and so eliminate it as a major health concern—will be hosted locally in September by Augusta Health and the Waynesboro YMCA.

Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission passes ‘Day to Serve’ resolution

The Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission has passed a resolution in support of “Day to Serve.” Day to Serve is a two week period between September 15th and 29th designated as a time to set aside political, religious and cultural differences and come together to “feed the hungry, protect and enhance the environment, as well as strengthen our communities.”

Community Foundation grant fans employees at Vector

Vector Industries employees are much cooler these days, thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge. The grant paid for a large industrial fan for the Building A warehouse, where about 50 employees work on projects ranging from packaging and warehousing to assembly and quality control.
