Gov. Bob McDonnell announced this week that the Department of Veterans Services’ Virginia Values Veterans Program (V3) certified 103 Virginia employers in its pilot year who have committed to providing over 4,000 jobs for Virginia’s Veterans, and that 2,487 Virginia veterans have already been hired.

Clinton Bell, a Tazewell County cattle and sheep producer has had problems with coyotes since the 1980s. “One year we lost 25 lambs to coyotes. Since the first of this year, I’ve lost one ewe and half a dozen lambs,” Bell said earlier this summer.

The Virginia baseball team will play host to Mississippi State Saturday through Monday (June 8-10) in the 2013 NCAA Charlottesville Super Regional at Davenport Field. The teams will play at 1 p.m. Saturday (June 8),7 p.m. Sunday (June 9) and 4 p.m. Monday (June 10), if necessary.

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced today that Perdue Agribusiness, Incorporated, which owns and operates a major deep-water export terminal for grains and oilseeds in Chesapeake, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with China’s Dandong Port Group Company and its affiliate, Dandong Pasite Grain and Oilseed Co. Ltd., to supply up to 29 million bushels of soybeans in a series of bulk shipments for the 2013 crop.

The Virginia duo of Jarmere Jenkins (College Park, Ga.) and Mac Styslinger (Birmingham, Ala.) won the fifth NCAA Individual title in school history, capturing the NCAA Doubles Championship over Chris Camillone and David Holiner of Texas 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 Monday at the Atkins Tennis Center.
