Study: Impartial experts aren’t so impartial

Forensic psychologists and psychiatrists are ethically bound to be impartial, to look only at the evidence before them, when performing evaluations or providing expert opinions for the court. But new research from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and Sam Houston State University suggests that the paycheck some courtroom experts receive influences their evaluations.

Body found in Bath County identified as missing Rockingham County woman

The body recovered from Back Creek in Bath County has been positively identified by the Roanoke Medical Examiner’s Office as Harriet C. Cobb, 62, of Rockingham County. A search team located the body in Back Creek after 11 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2013, approximately three-tenths of a mile from where Harriet Cobb’s vehicle was discovered. Foul play is not suspected.
