VDOT will hold a public hearing concerning improvements to C Street, Town of Elkton in Rockingham County. The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 21, at Elkton Area Community Center.

VDOT crews are preparing today for the winter storm that is forecast to affect the western half of Virginia beginning late Tuesday and lasting through Wednesday.

Overnight single-lane closures are in place along northbound Interstate 81 in Augusta County near mile marker 228. Drivers can expect left or right lane closures Monday through Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. through the morning of Friday, Feb. 1.

Part of Durant Road in the city of Covington is scheduled to close for no more than 90 days beginning in early March 2019. During that time, the roadway will be closed 24/7 between Willis Avenue and Thacker Avenue.

Afternoon commuters and Thursday evening travelers may encounter slick conditions as a winter storm sweeps across Central Virginia. Although the storm is not forecast to leave much snow, cold temperatures and the storm’s timing could make travel challenging late this afternoon and evening.
