The northbound Interstate 81 off-ramp to Route 11 at exit 251 (Harrisonburg) in Rockingham County is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, through 5 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 20.

The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton District during the coming weeks. The Staunton District consists of 11 counties from the Alleghany Highlands to the northern Shenandoah Valley.

The right lane of southbound Interstate 81 in Rockingham County is scheduled to be closed from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 17.

The following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week.

Rehabilitation of the Route 717 (Secretarys Sand Road) bridge over the South Fork of the Hardware River is nearly complete, but the contractor will need additional time to finish construction tasks before reopening the road to traffic.

Due to Sunday’s heavy snow and the overnight freezing temperatures, Virginia State Police is still advising Virginians to avoid traveling Monday in the western, southern and central regions of the Commonwealth.

Snow is tapering off in central and southern portions of the Shenandoah Valley leaving many roads snow covered. Travel is not advised in the area.

Snow continues through many areas in the Commonwealth of Virginia today. In the Shenandoah Valley no snow has fallen in the Winchester and Frederick County area and in the Lexington Rockbridge County area heavy snow has fallen for most of the day.
