The University of Virginia Board of Visitors today acted to reinstate Teresa A. Sullivan as president of the University. “The past two weeks have been trying for all of us in the University community,” Sullivan said. “While this period of uncertainty has been difficult, I believe that those with opposing viewpoints have been well-intentioned, acting only with the best interests of the University in mind”

The U.S. Supreme Court this morning handed down a mixed decision in Arizona v. United States, a case challenging that state’s SB 1070 law, which is based on the controversial Prince William County ordinance that was cast aside as unworkable in 2008. While throwing out provisions making it a state crime to be in the country illegally and to make it a state crime to seek work, the Court refused to say that the Arizona “show me your papers” law was invalid on its face, without additional facts and an interpretation of the law by the Arizona Courts

As I recall, the Republicans had a primary election a couple of weeks ago. A Sixth Congressional District and the statewide Senatorial Republican Primary were held on June 12 – and it is not over! We may have to wait until November of this year and the spring of 2014 for the final results. Will Karen Kwaitkowski run again? Will Bob Goodlatte ever retire? And will George Allen get back to the U. S. Senate, or will Jamie Radtke steal enough votes to allow Tim Kaine to make a permanent move up I-95? Stay tuned
