WTA’s Gateway mounts it first murder mystery dinner theatre on Nov. 22-23. Directed by Boomie Pedersen, artistic director of the Earl Hamner Jr. Theatre, Capricious Caper at the Club Ritz is an interactive theatre production. The audience is as much a participant as a viewer in the merriment and mayhem.

Barefoot Puppet returns to WTA’s Gateway with its newest production, Ooey Gooye Poetry. Sometimes characters end up in sticky situations… Heidi and Sam Rugg, of Barefoot Puppet Theatre, breathe new life into a host of characters unearthed from classical literature with just a dash of Victoriana.

Tom Principato is no stranger to Waynesboro, having headlined the Virginia Chili Blues ‘n Brews Festival. The blues legend returns to the River City on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Gateway Theatre.

Virginia Tech has named its $100 million arts center building in tribute to artist and philanthropist Patricia Buckley Moss, whose recent donation in support of the center is one of the largest gifts the university ever has received.

Clair Myers, producer of the River City Radio Hour, says, “We have a wealth of talent on the October Radio Hour.” To prove his point, he announced that Dr. Stephen Levine and the Dreaded Blues Lady, Lorie Strother, and the dynamic duo of Chet and Jill will join the Boogie Kings for a jam-packed musical hour on Friday, October 18.

The River City Radio Hour opened it seventh season in August. Now comes a new wrinkle in the popular Wayne Theatre Alliance program. Besides presenting its hour-long performances on the third Friday of the month, WTA will broadcast its monthly offering on Harrisonburg’s WSVA on the last Sunday of the month.

Actor Ryan Clemens, relative of Mark Twain (pen name of writer Samuel L. Clemens) brought his show Meet Mark Twain to WTA’s Gateway in March 2013 and wowed the audience.

WTA Presents features interviews with Helen White and Liz Barnes. Helen will be performing at the Gateway Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 14, with Wayne Henderson. Liz will be performing at the Gateway on Saturday, Sept. 7, with Barbara Martin.

On Thursday, September 5, WTA’s Gateway will open the fall season with an opportunity to warm-up for the 2013-14 talent contest. Lorie Strother, AKA The Dreaded Blues Lady, will be the host of the evening which begins at 7:00 pm.
