Swenson, United States Army, for heroism and gallantry above and beyond the call of duty in the Battle of the Ganjgal Valley on Sept. 8, 2009. Aging In Place and CDSME Discussed on Radio

Issues In Aging radio show discussed issues related to healthy aging with Robin Hawks, Joyce Nussbaum, and Sharon Strang. Robin Hawks, Blue Ridge Community College, discussed the Aging in Place program which began this fall. The certificate program is designed to help students better understand the needs of older adults from multiple aspects.

Virginia on-time graduation rate tops 89 percent

Nearly nine out of ten Virginia students who entered the ninth grade in the fall of 2009 earned a diploma within four years, and 55.8 percent of the commonwealth’s 2013 high school graduates earned an Advanced Studies Diploma. The statewide dropout rate fell to 5.9 percent for the class of 2013, compared with 6.5 percent for the class of 2012.
