Redistricting of Virginia’s congressional districts has taken a significant step forward, one that seems to be a fair compromise that Republicans and Democrats should be able to live with, according to Virginia Tech’s Nicholas Goedert.
Nearly 3.3 million people voted in the 2021 state election, no doubt spurred by a batch of new laws passed by the Virginia General Assembly in the past two years making it easier to vote.
Republicans got their 2020 voters out. Democrats didn’t. It’ll soon start to sink in to folks who couldn’t hold their noses and vote for Terry McAuliffe what we’re about to lose.
Republicans will gain six seats in the House of Delegates in the 2021 cycle, giving the GOP a 51-49 majority in the lower chamber.
