I had naively hoped never to live through tough economic times like my folks did, with The Great Depression. And, while I still believe that we’re far from those dark days, it is clear that we are in the midst of the worst financial crisis of my life and certainly of my boy’s lives. There…

Did you fall for it? Did you have so much smoke in your eyes that you failed to see the real issue, the big bucks and the bigger picture? I can understand. It is easier to see money on trees than the economic vitality of the forest.

So what else did our legislature do this year? Round I of kudos and brickbats went to some notable deeds—and misdeeds–of the General Assembly, not least of which was passing a budget on time. Time now for Round II, focusing on what affects on the local level, especially our pocketbooks.
