Prices at the pump continue to stabilize throughout most of the country. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $3.52 Friday, up a penny from a week ago. This price is 12 cents less than one month ago and 28 cents less than one year ago.

The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the VDOT Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties, Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. The Lynchburg Hillcats didn’t give up a hit until the eighth inning, when the Wilmington Blue Rocks used two hits to push a run across that proved to be the difference in a 1-0 final.
