Anthony Gill had 18 points (8-9 FG) for Virginia, while Joe Harris had 16 points (7-8 FG), and Mike Tobey and Malcolm Brogdon each had 13 (each 6-10 FG). UVa. shoots 56.6 percent from the field and outrebounds Navy 40-19.

Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe announces first round of administration appointments

Virginia Gov.-elect Terry McAuliffe announced on Monday his choices for four key senior administration positions: Paul Reagan as Chief of Staff, Suzette Denslow as Deputy Chief of Staff, Secretary Ric Brown, who will stay on through at least the passage of the upcoming budget as Secretary of Finance, and Levar Stoney as Secretary of the Commonwealth.

Gov. McDonnell announces Virginia College Application Week

Gov. Bob McDonnell announced Virginia College Application Week (VCAW) at 32 Virginia high schools and proclaimed Nov. 18-22 College Application Week in the Commonwealth. This initiative is designed to provide graduating high school seniors with information and resources about the college admissions process.

Gas prices fall to nearly three-year low

The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded gas was $3.20 a gallon on Friday, the lowest price at the gas pump since February 2011, according to AAA. Gas prices continue their downward trek that started around Labor Day. Since Sept. 1, prices have dropped 39 cents per gallon, and have fallen 65 of the 75 days in that span.

JMU basketball loses to Milwaukee, 77-66

Jordan Aaron had five of Milwaukee’s 11 three-pointers as part of a 24-point effort as James Madison fell 77-66 on the second day of the NIU Invitational on Saturday at the NIU Convocation Center. UWM improved to 3-1 with its third straight victory and second of the invitational. JMU fell to 1-2 in the first meeting between the programs.

VMI basketball tops Bluefield State, 121-80

QJ Peterson had 25 points, including 20 in the first half and 12 straight at one point, and Jordan Weethee went 7 for 7 from the field, including 6 of 6 from three-point range, for a career-high 20 points to pace the VMI Keydets to a 121-80 win over the Bluefield State Blues Saturday afternoon at Cameron Hall.
