Great news with the unanimous vote by the UVa. Board of Visitors to reinstate President Teresa Sullivan. But this thing isn’t over – not by a long shot. The focus now has to be on repairing UVa.’s reputation, which has been damaged by the controversy over her forced June 10 resignation and the awkward back-and-forth that ensued

As I recall, the Republicans had a primary election a couple of weeks ago. A Sixth Congressional District and the statewide Senatorial Republican Primary were held on June 12 – and it is not over! We may have to wait until November of this year and the spring of 2014 for the final results. Will Karen Kwaitkowski run again? Will Bob Goodlatte ever retire? And will George Allen get back to the U. S. Senate, or will Jamie Radtke steal enough votes to allow Tim Kaine to make a permanent move up I-95? Stay tuned

The Winston-Salem Dash pounded out a season-high 16 runs and 20 hits as they outslugged the Potomac Nationals by the final score of 16-6. Winston-Salem scored at least one run in the first eight innings of the game. In addition to hitting four home runs, every player on the Dash had a hit by the fifth inning

History was made at Calvin Falwell Field tonight in a doubleheader sweep. Aaron Northcraft threw his first professional no-hitter, while fanning a career-high 10 in a 3-0 win in game two. Game one was highlighted by an 11 inning marathon that ended with Matt Weaver laying down a squeeze bunt to score Mycal Jones in a walk-off 4-3 win

In his first rehab game, Mark DeRosa was hitless in two at bats but the Potomac Nationals walked off with a 5-4 victory in ten innings over the Winston-Salem Dash. The P-Nats start off the second half of the Carolina League season at 1-0. DeRosa, rehabbing a left oblique strain, struck out looking in his first at bat before lining out to right field in his final at bat

Squirrels take series with 7-2 win at Trenton

The Richmond Flying Squirrels (36-36) returned to the .500 mark with a, 7-2, win over the Trenton Thunder (40-29) on Thursday night at Waterfront Park. The win netted the Squirrels the series, having taken two of the three games. Richmond has now won three consecutive series, and return to .500 for the first time since they were 20-20
