Across the nation, May 6-12, 2018 is National Hospital Week. In Virginia, this week provides an opportunity to celebrate the great work done by Virginia’s local hospitals and health systems each day.

The following is a list of highway work that may affect traffic in the Staunton District during the coming weeks. The Staunton District consists of 11 counties from the Alleghany Highlands to the northern Shenandoah Valley.

Visit Staunton, the City of Staunton’s tourism department, has obtained the Virginia Tourism Corporation’s LOVEwork, or love letters display, May 6 through 12 for National Travel and Tourism Week.

Part of Route 789 in Rockbridge County is scheduled to be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, May 7-11. This daily closure is between Route 251 and Route 1030 in the Lexington area.

The following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones.

Route 56 (Tye River Turnpike) in Rockbridge County has reopened. Route 56 was closed on May 3 from Route 608 (South Bottom Road) and the Nelson County line. The roadway closure was due to a forest fire.

Adventure your way through downtown Staunton for the Queen City’s fifth annual World Fair Trade Day celebration, hosted by three local businesses on Saturday, May 12.

A portion of Route 730 (Stokesville Road) in northwestern Augusta County is scheduled to be closed from 7 a.m. Saturday, May 5, until 5 p.m. Friday, May 11.
