The Virginia athletics department will present three new 30-minute installments of “The Building of a Program” television show starting Friday, April 5 on Comcast SportsNet and Saturday, April 6 on Charlottesville Newsplex stations, WCAV CBS 19, WVAW ABC 16 and WAHU FOX 27.
The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and two of its members (or partner agencies) are competing for a total of $85,000 in grant funding through Walmart’s nationwide Fighting Hunger Together campaign. The two Food Bank members competing for the grant include Hope Distributed, a food pantry in Harrisonburg, and Campus Kitchens, a food distribution program in Lexington. All of the grant funding will support their child hunger-relief programs.

Virginia State Police Trooper R. Sachno III is investigating a single-vehicle crash in Nelson County that resulted in the death of a 5-year-old Nellysford resident. The crash occurred at 8:23 p.m. on March 24, 2013. A 1994 Saturn SL was traveling east on Route 665 when the driver lost control. Less than a mile east of Route 29, the car ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then overturned into a creek.
