Virginia approved to begin offering coordinated healthcare for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees

Gov. Bob McDonnell today announced that Virginia has been approved to implement a new healthcare initiative, the Medicare-Medicaid Enrollee (dual eligible) Financial Alignment Demonstration, aimed at coordinating care for more than 78,000 Virginians currently enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid.

Virginia Living publishes its second annual guide to the Commonwealth’s ‘Bests’

Virginia Living’s second annual Best of Virginia issue is now on newsstands. The statewide guide to all that is ‘best’ in Virginia from dining to shopping to doing, Best of Virginia 2013 lists the more than 1,200 winners from Virginia Living’s second annual Best of Virginia Readers’ Survey conducted in January. More than 25,000 votes were cast in 400 categories covering the best in arts, culture and entertainment, living and recreation, shopping and services, and food and drink across the state.

Exploring Virginia’s botanical history through the centuries

The story of Virginia’s Floras, both past and present, will be told in the Shenandoah Valley on Thursday, at 2 and 7 p.m. at Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) in Weyers Cave. Exploring Virginia’s Botanical History through Three Centuries, featuring Dick Cheatham as John Clayton and Donna Ware as herself, will be the topic of the 75-minute program. The word “flora” is the technical term used by botanists to describe a guide to plants living in a particular area. Thus a Virginia Flora is a guidebook to all the documented plants with sustainable wild populations in the commonwealth.

The regional recognition program honors the exceptional contributions of EMS providers in the Central Shenandoah Valley make to their communities.
