The Shenandoah Valley Writing Academy (SVWA) at Bridgewater College will take place July 7-18 on the college’s campus.

On Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 6 p.m., there will be a Networking 101 class at the Augusta County Library in Fishersville. Aimed at job seekers, this free class will be taught by the Sherry Talbott, director of career services at Bridgewater College, and members of the Rotary Club of Staunton-Augusta County.

Three Bridgewater College seniors who achieved superior academic standards and good campus citizenship have been selected as recipients of the John W. and Lurene M. Durna Endowed Scholarship, awarded to those who intend to pursue a career in law.

Noura Erakat, an international human rights attorney and Palestinian activist, will speak at Bridgewater College on Monday, Jan. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Cole Hall.

Behind 18 points from Walter Foster, 17 points from Zak Kirkbride, and 15 points each from Kuran Iverson and Daniel Dixon, the Fishburne Caisson PG basketball team raced to a 50-20 halftime advantage en route to a 86-57 win over the Bridgewater College JV team Sunday afternoon.

The Equestrian Club of Bridgewater College will host the 11th annual “Horses’ Christmas” at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center in Weyers Cave, on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m.

Dr. Katrina Powell, director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at Virginia Tech, will speak on “Place, Identity, and Eminent Domain: Letters from Shenandoah National Park” at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in Cole Hall at Bridgewater College.

The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of October, is exhibiting the second Member’s Judged Show of 2012. Members of the art center compete for awards ranging from Best in Show to honorable mentions. This year’s judge is Michael Hough, Associate Professor of Art at Bridgewater College with a Master of Fine Art from Rhode Island School of Design.

Four stellar former Bridgewater College athletes have been selected for induction into the college’s Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Oct. 5, in the Kline Campus Center, as part of Homecoming activities. The inductees will also be recognized the following day at half-time of the Eagles’ Homecoming football game against Hampden-Sydney College.
