Small businesses with big entrepreneurial plans sometimes can’t reach their goals due to limited creative manpower. That’s where a special service-learning project at Bridgewater College hopes to make a difference.

An evening of heart-racing frights and spine-chilling experiences – all calculated to benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and the Bridgewater College Equestrian Club – will be on tap Saturday, Oct. 27, at the BC Equestrian Center from 8 p.m. until midnight.

A sociology professor at Bridgewater College has published the first comprehensive book that examines the thirst for culture and knowledge in the African nation of Zambia. Mwizenge S. Tembo was born in Chipata and grew up near Nkhanga Village in Lundazi, which is in the Eastern Province of Zambia in Southern Africa. He has taught at Bridgewater for more than two decades and spent three years researching and writing Satisfying Zambian Hunger for Culture, which contains a foreword by Kenneth Kaunda, Zambia’s first president.

Bridgewater College closed out its spring break trip with a 3-2 victory Wednesday over Aurora. The Eagles finished the trip with a 3-3 record and improved to 12-4 on the season. Aurora, like the Eagles, received votes in the most recent d3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 poll. The Spartans are now 4-2 on the season.
