The Shenandoah Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is seeking nominations for its 2013 National Philanthropy Day awards. A workshop for area businesses interested in learning more about increasing their customer base through innovation commercialization is being offered 8:30 – 11:30am Thursday May 30 at the Augusta County Government Center in Verona. Those who attend will learn the steps to Innovation Excellence, from encouraging idea generation to taking a product or process innovation to the marketplace.

Timothy Higgins, Andrew Andreae and Jessica Ungerleider, representing the University of Virginia, won the Capital One Grand Prize today at the Governor’s Business Plan Challenge. In recognition of Virginia’s strong entrepreneurial environment, the statewide challenge, co-hosted by Work It, Richmond, featured the best business plans or concepts crafted by undergraduate students this year.

The Waynesboro Public Library has teamed up with the Waynesboro Rotary Club and the Office on Youth to host a career day. “Get a Job” Job Skills Fair on Thursday, April 25 from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sessions scheduled for the day will help job seekers learn job finding skills.

The new superintendent at Fishburne Military School is a familiar face in the FMS community. Gary R. Morrison, a 1981 graduate of Fishburne who also served on the faculty and later as the director of admissions, was named to the top administrative position at the school at a meeting of the Fishburne-Hudgins Educational Foundation Board of Trustees.
