Raji, Udofia, Harris split ACC men’s honors

Boston College’s Corey Raji has been named ACC Player of the Week, while Wake Forest’s C.J. Harris and Georgia Tech’s Mfon Udofia tied for ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

Raji averaged 20.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and shot 63 percent (17-of-27) from the field as the Eagles posted a 62-58 win over Michigan last Wednesday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and a 61-60 ACC victory over visiting Miami Sunday.

The Washington Township, N.J., junior was 11-for-16 from the field and totaled 24 points, nine rebounds and three steals against the Wolverines. In the Eagles’ ACC opener against the previously unbeaten Hurricanes, the 6-6, 218-pound forward had 17 points and nine rebounds.

Harris, a 6-2, 175-pound guard, averaged 16.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two games against ranked opponents last week and extended his double-digit scoring streak to five games. In the Deacon’s 69-58 loss at No. 4 Purdue Tuesday, the Winston-Salem, N.C., freshman had 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting in 31 minutes of action off the bench. In Saturday’s 77-75 win at No. 17 Gonzaga, Harris scored 19 points and had four rebounds in his first career start.

Udofia, a 6-2, 187-pound guard, averaged 18.5 points and shot .591 percent from the floor in wins over Siena and Southern California last week. In Wednesday’s 74-61 win over Siena, the Stone Mountain, Ga., freshman scored a game-high 26 points, hitting 9-of-16 shots from the floor, and pulled down seven rebounds. Three nights later, Udofia had 11 points, four assists and no turnovers in Tech’s 79-53 win over USC.
