The vacation of a lifetime can happen right in your own backyard without breaking the bank. For world wide trips you may consider looking into truck title loans, but for a Virginia vacation your travel budget can stay more reasonable.

Check out just a few of the unbelievable places to visit right in your own home state. Support local businesses and tourism while learning more about the beautiful and historical state of Virginia.

Shenandoah National Park

There are few places in the world with more majestic views than the Blue Ridge Mountains. Along the southern tip of the Appalachian range, Shenandoah National Park covers over 200,000 square acres of natural forests, rivers, lakes and mountain ranges. It’s perfect for the outdoor enthusiast or for anyone that is looking to get back to the glory of nature.

Drive the Skyline Drive and wonder at the vistas from the tops of Old Rag and Hawkbill mountains. Visit Massanutten Park and enjoy the pristine skiing conditions in the winter or the expansive waterpark in the summer. Take a trip down to the Luray caverns and discover enormous natural caves laying right under your feet.

Virginia Beach

In the southeastern corner of the state you can find one of the prettiest coastlines along Virginia Beach. With over 3 miles of maintained boardwalk you can enjoy a trip along the ocean and enjoy hundreds of small shops, art galleries and restaurants.

Virginia Beach has lots to do for the whole family. Spend the day learning and marveling at the creatures of the oceans at the Aquarium & Marine Science Center. Walk the trails of First Landing State Park and see where the first American settlers came ashore. Surround yourself with luscious plants and fauna at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens.

Colonial Williamsburg

Step back into the past when you visit the living history museum of Williamsburg. Volunteers recreate the daily routines, habits and jobs of 18th century settlers for all to enjoy. Williamsburg was once the state’s capital and as such you can enjoy a visit to the original Governor’s mansion with an educational historical tour.

Buy some fresh vegetables and goods at the daily farmer’s market and take a stroll through the historic town center filled with shops and restaurants. Williamsburg is full of old world charm and surrounded by history.

Monticello

Discover an important part of American history when you visit the former homestead of Thomas Jefferson. Now a national historic site, Monticello is a beautiful mansion estate that hosts daily tours. Learn about this influential president and get a taste of what life was like nearly two centuries ago.

Take a walk through the Carter Mountain Orchards, tour the grounds and gardens of the Monticello estate and enjoy your day in the glorious rolling hills of the area. Stop for lunch at the historical Michie Tavern; built in 1784, it still serves customers today.

Conclusion

Vacation doesn’t always have to mean going the longest distance away from home. Virginia has so much to offer from the mountains to the sea. Discover the history and beauty of your home state all over again on this vacation of a lifetime.
