Wayne Theatre Alliance’s 2012 Christmas Home Tour will be a chance to experience the holiday traditions and decor of some of Waynesboro’s finest homes.   The annual event will feature six homes and two institutions dressed for the holiday.  The Tour is from 10 am to 4 pm on December 1st.   Tickets are available in advance at WTA’s office.  They will be available at the Plumb House and at WTA’s Gateway before 2 pm on the day of the tour. Again this year, WTA will offer a special bus tour for those who would rather ride than drive.

The houses on the tour include the three homes in the Tree Streets area.  The Hashagen House on Oak Avenue was built in 1939 and is one of the oldest on the 600 block of Oak Avenue.   Across the street is the Chrisman-Sisson Home that was build a year later.  According to tradition it was designed by Fleming Hurt, a nearby neighbor and President of the Virginia AIA.  The other Tree Street home is on Walnut Avenue.  This elegant four-level condo was built in 1990.  The other homes on the tour are the Puckett Home on Heritage Road.  It was built by the Pucketts in 1989 and decorated in the Williamsburg style.  The Roland House at Warren Oaks Lane is called Thyme Ridge by it owners.  Its idyllic setting enhances the lovely home.  Also on the tour is the 1909 Queen Anne house built by Dr. Ernest Mosby and now operated as the Belle Hearth Bed and Breakfast.  The Belle Hearth will serve as a way-station where Home Tour visitors can enjoy cookies and beverages and view the beautiful Christmas trees and decorations.  The other spot is the Plumb House.  Once again, it will be dressed in the 19th Century finery of fresh native greenery, pine cones and berries giving visitors a glimpse of Christmas in Valley before the Civil War.

Christmas Home Tour tickets are $20 in advance or $25 on the day of the tour.  Bus tour tickets are $30 and must be purchased in advance.  Advanced tickets may be purchased by calling 540-943-9999 or visiting the office at 533 West Main.  Tickets will be available on the day of tour until 2 pm at the Plumb House and at WTA’s Gateway, 329 West Main.
