The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library announces the “Future Presidents of America” youth leadership summer camp happening June 9 to 13, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Designed for students ages 13 to 16, the immersive program provides an opportunity for young leaders to develop civic literacy, public speaking skills and a deeper understanding of leadership through historical and modern perspectives.

Program highlights include:

  • Civic Engagement & Leadership: Students will explore the qualities of effective leadership and learn how they can make a meaningful impact in their communities.
  • Public Speaking & Debate: Participants will build confidence through guided public speaking exercises and collaborative discussions.
  • Historical & Government Insights: A unique opportunity to understand leadership through history, including a field trip to the Virginia State Capitol, where students will understand government in action.
  • Networking with Leaders: Campers will meet and engage with local community leaders, legislators, business owners, and more, gaining real-world insights into leadership and governance.

Throughout the week, students will participate in interactive workshops, team-building activities and hands-on leadership challenges to strengthen their ability to think critically and communicate effectively. A formal etiquette luncheon will be held to teach the importance of professional decorum in leadership settings.

The cost is $300 per student, and financial assistance is available. Applications are available online, or by calling the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library at 540-885-0897 ext. 122, or email [email protected].

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the 28th President of the United States while fostering civic engagement and leadership education. Through interactive programs and exhibits, the library aims to inspire young minds to become active, informed citizens. WWPL is at 20 N. Coalter Street in downtown Staunton.
