vmiA 56th-minute penalty kick goal was the difference as the Saint Peter’s Peacocks defeated the VMI Keydets, 1-0, in non-conference women’s soccer action Friday afternoon in Jersey City, N.J.

After the teams combined for 15 total shots over the first 50 minutes of play, the Keydets (2-2) seemed to be in control early in the second half. The pace of the match was dominated by the offenses, as both goalkeepers were forced to make double-digit saves. Emily Marbury stopped 10 shots for VMI, while Taylor McLean had 12 saves for Saint Peter’s.

On the day, VMI held a 20-14 edge in shots and a 5-3 advantage in corners.
