bridgewater eaglesBridgewater scored on a penalty kick late in the first half and that goal turned out to be enough as the Eagles defeated Frostburg State, 1-0, in the season opener for both teams.

With just 1:11 left on the first half clock the Bobcats were whistled for a foul in the box. Bridgewater freshmanIsabella Weigel converted the penalty kick, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead at the half.

The Bridgewater defense and keeper Hayley Talbott blanked the Bobcats in the tightly-contested matchup.

Bridgewater held a slim 11-9 edge in shots with a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Talbott recorded the shutout, finishing the contest with five saves.

The Eagles return to action Saturday afternoon when they host North Carolina Wesleyan in the home opener at the BC Soccer Field.
